Course Description:
Heavy equipment, comprising large machinery used for earth-moving and material handling on construction sites, presents unique workplace challenges and potential hazards. The is an essential training program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to work safely in proximity to heavy equipment while ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ontario Regulation 213/91, which govern construction projects in Ontario.

It caters to construction workers who operate in close proximity to heavy equipment, construction supervisors, and managers responsible for site safety and legal compliance, safety officers dedicated to ensuring adherence to regulations, contractors and subcontractors obligated to fulfill legislative duties, and occupational health and safety professionals specializing in construction and ensuring strict compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ontario Regulation 213/91.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Explain the Legislative requirements of working around heavy equipment, and the duties of all workplace parties involved.
- Implement the RACE method for managing hazards, and how to use the Hierarchy of Controls.
- Recognize, Assess, Control, and Evaluate those hazards.

Assessment:
